Kiss goodbye to your December social schedule because The Crown is coming back to Netflix THIS DECEMBER!
The wait is finally over. Season two of The Crown will be hitting to Netflix on Friday 8th December 2017… BRB whilst we lose our absolute sh*t at our desks.
The second series of The Crown starts ten years into the Queen’s reign and if the season two trailer, just released, is anything to go by, Elizabeth has certainly gown into her role. Claire Foy’s sass in the teaser, when arguing with Matt Smith – playing Prince Phillip – is only outshone by her serious crown jewels.
At the heart of season two seems to be the relationship between the Queen and her consort, with one adviser saying, “you married a wild spirit – trying to tame them is no use.” Cut to The Queen throwing some serious shade about ‘certain’ affair rumours. This is just about to get seriously juicy, people!
The marital issues play out against a backdrop of an illegal war in Egypt and the subsequent downfall of the Queen’s third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan. If that wasn’t enough action for you, the Royal Family are seen navigating their way through the revolutionary era of the 1960s as well. So, so, so scandalous!
The trailer also includes the introduction of Princess Margaret’s (Vanessa Kirby) husband, the iconic fashion photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones who will be played by the equally dashing Matthew Goode. Goode has previously appeared in Tom Ford’s A Single Man.
Of course, in a similar fashion to series one, the royal family’s style reigns supreme. In one scene from the trailer the Queen is seen perusing a selection of models in mid century couture – talk about shopping #goals!
Jackie Kennedy also makes an appearance in the trailer, so the glamour doesn’t just stop at Princess Margaret and crew. Alongside the trailer, Netflix have released a series of stills showing Claire Foy’s version of the Queen pregnant with her third child whilst being attended to by Prince Phillip.
So what are you waiting for? Get that diary out and get ready to clear a solid day from your hectic December calendar for the most decadent TV binge of 2017. We are polishing our crown jewels in eager anticipation of the most expensive television series EVER made returning to our lives.
